Frequently Asked Questions
Lessons, bookings, and the practical things people ask first.
Lessons
What kinds of lessons does Sandy teach?
Two kinds: voice lessons, and instrument lessons on tenor guitar and baritone ukulele.
What do voice lessons cover?
Vocal training built on exercises across single notes, thirds, fifths, and scales, plus vocal harmony training, karaoke preparation, song coaching, and classical song training.
Do I need to be able to sing already?
No. Voice lessons are offered at all levels, and Sandy's approach to teaching is rooted in the belief that singing is a vibration which feels great: everyone has a voice, it is just a matter of opening, exercising and using it.
Which instruments can I learn?
Tenor guitar and baritone ukulele. Lessons cover tuning, chords, strumming, and songwriting.
Is the baritone ukulele a good first instrument for a child or a beginner?
Yes. The baritone ukulele is beginner- and kid-friendly: four strings and an easy-to-handle size.
Can I learn to write my own songs?
Songwriting is part of what instrument lessons cover, and Sandy writes and performs her own material. The full catalogue of her lyrics is on this site.
